Attention Seeker

Children who have ADHD have a hard time focusing on one thing at a time. We created a game that requires the player to focus on specific tasks which will help children with ADHD to develop the skills they need to focus and learn to apply them to other areas such as the classroom.

The Problem:

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a condition where those affected have difficulty doing things such as sustained attention, sitting still for long periods of time, and multitasking. About 9% of children in the US have a current ADHD diagnosis. One way to help children with ADHD to improve their focus is by encouraging them to play attention boosting games to improve these skills.
While there are many generic games that exist that could be used for this, they aren't specifically designed for ADHD and can be hard for children with ADHD to follow because of their short attention spans.

Our Solution:

We created a game specifically designed to help children with ADHD improve their focus and learn to apply these skills in other areas as well, while still having fun playing the game.

The Attention Seeker has two games which are varying levels of difficulty in order to slowly introduce more challenging tasks so it's easier for the child with ADHD to keep up.

Game 1: There are four buttons whose colors each corresponds to a rows of LEDs. When one LED lights up, the child has to press the button that corresponds to that color light. The game goes slowly so the child can keep up and it is an interactive way of teaching them how to pay more attention without losing interest.

Game 2: The goal of the game is to stack the colored blocks of LED lights. The child not only has to pay close attention to when they are hitting the button, they also have to press the button that is the same color as the LED on the board which introduces to the child the concept of multitasking.
